Christiaan, welcome to the 2018 Midlands Bridal Fair. We are so excited to introduce you and your business to our Brides- and Grooms-to-be!

We’d love to know more about you and how you got into the industry…

In 2008 I decided to quit my career in corporate finance to pursue my passion for people photography. Within a few years I established myself as one of the leading wedding photographers in South Africa.

Whether I’m shooting an intimate wedding or a 500-guest Greek wedding, my aim will always be the same: to blow your mind, make your parents proud and your friends envious.

What services and expertise does your business offer to clients?
  1. Wedding Photography
  2. Engagement Shoots
  3. Wedding Album design & print
  4. Videography
How long have you been doing this for?

10 years.

What do you love most about the work you do?

Being able to photograph the happiest day of people’s lives and then being able to provide them with that memory afterwards.

What differentiates your business and makes you stand out? What are you known for?

My easy going personality and my style which is very natural mixed with some glamour.

What can visitors to the Midlands Bridal Fair expect to see from you at the fair?

I will have some printed albums on display with some of my recent weddings I covered.

Any client testimonial/s you’d like to share?

“Thank you so very much to both you and Chanelle for capturing our special day. All the pictures are absolutely beautiful and that’s why you are regarded one of the very best in SA. I am honestly beyond ecstatic. Thank you, thank you and thank you.” –Ashlyn & Chernel

Tell us what inspires you. Any websites, people or companies that you follow?

I follow the Vanity Fair photographers as well as Two Mann Studios in Canada.

Any upcoming wedding trend forecasts?

Couples will expect better images to be created in less time as couples/guests want to spend more time together after the service. Video will grow from a nice-to-have to a must-have in the next few years. Couples will forgo or postpone wedding albums in the short run to afford better suppliers or to add video to their wedding day.

What advice would you give to Brides- and/or Grooms-to-be?

Be on time! I can’t stress this enough. You have a year to plan your wedding day so make sure your photographer has the time to get amazing photographs. If you are late you will have to forgo some part of the shoot. The Midlands weather can change in a heartbeat which can add to your misery if you are already running late.

Do you have a favourite quote?

“If you stand to close to the painting you don’t get to see the painting.”

I use this quote to explain to my couples that they have to let go in the days leading up to their wedding and enjoy the wedding. If you have professional suppliers they will take care of everything. Sit back and enjoy the wedding without sweating the small stuff on the day. The cake falling over is a disaster on the day but it will be the thing you laugh about in the years to come.
