Darryn, welcome to the 2018 Midlands Bridal Fair. We are so excited to introduce you and your business to our Brides- and Grooms-to-be!
We’d love to know more about you and how you got into the industry…
I developed a passion for photography about seven years ago and have enjoyed every minute of this exciting journey.
I am a husband and a dad to two incredible kids who are my biggest fans and give me unending support.
There is something very special photographing weddings. What a privilege it is to be a part of a couple’s most important day, where memories are made and beautiful moments are captured.
What services and expertise does your business offer to clients?
I specialise in Wedding and Engagement photography.
How long have you been doing this for?
What do you love most about the work you do?
I love the fact that I get to meet new people every week – everyone from the Bride and Groom to their Guests. It’s a real honour and blessing knowing that the images I take will be viewed for years and generations to come. The people I meet at each wedding offers a different and new experience.
What differentiates your business and makes you stand out? What are you known for?
I like to think of myself as a ‘people person’. I enjoy meeting new people and develop lasting friendships with most of my clients. I feel what makes me different to others in my industry is my relaxed approach, quick thinking on my feet, and my ability to have a great time while doing what I love – capturing your special day.
What can visitors to the Midlands Bridal Fair expect to see from you at the fair?
Myself, my wife and a passion for my work! I will have a portfolio of photographs and albums for the soon-to-be Brides and Grooms to look through to get an idea of my style of photography.
Any client testimonial/s you’d like to share?
“Wow, wow, wow! So blown away by your photography, Darryn! Best photographer ever, hands down. So much fun to work with and über creative. A hundred times over, thank you!” – Nqobile Khoza
“About Darryn Sykes. Where do I start… so I met his wife at the wedding expo, when I saw his pictures on display (from far) I felt intimidated because I thought, surely I can never afford his services. I literally fell in love with his work, right there on the spot. I went to his stand anyway and had a little chat with his wife who was so friendly and so calm. She gave me a pamphlet, and I put it away in the little packet everyone gets at the entrance door and I didn’t even look at his price list
I continued looking for other service providers, and I never found anything that I liked. I know it’s because they were not Darryn Sykes – I couldn’t get the pictures I had seen out of my mind. So, when I was starting to plan the wedding, I took out the packet that had all the different supplier’s business cards, because the aim was to narrow down the list and maybe meet two or three, then decide.
Ohh and I saw Darryn Sykes pamphlet, and I contacted him to meet us to possibly be my service provider. We met, and he was friendly as ever, he had a lovely friendly smile, and such professionalism about him. His personality just brings out the best in you. I promise, I just clicked with him, and I knew I didn’t want to meet anyone else. He was our guy.
Thank you so much Darryn for making my wedding so memorable. You have never complained about anything I have asked you to do, even when really, you should’ve (shoot in Camperdown). Camperdown was cold and rainy, and I was tired, but you revived the energy within me and thank you for being patient with us on both days.
Your love for your work and for your clients, will surely see you to greater heights.
I will cherish the friendship, that we created, and as I said before, you have officially become my ‘official’ photographer for everything hehehe… I honestly can’t wait to have more shoots with you.
Thank you so much, you are truly special in both mine and my husband’s hearts.”
What advice would you give to Brides- and/or Grooms-to-be?
Don’t stress on your wedding day if nothing goes as planned, no one will know the difference. Enjoy every minute and take some time to absorb your special day.
