Courtney, welcome to the Midlands Bridal Fair 2017 in KZN. We are so excited to introduce you and your business to our Brides- and Grooms-to-be!

Tell us a little bit about yourself

My name is Court and I’m not your average Make-up Artist. I am what you could consider a typical farm girl and I’m currently studying Animal Health. I also have a thing for Photography. I’m a self-proclaimed adventurer, even though I find most things petrifying – so not to good at that!

Weddings are my absolute favourite and the glow of a Bride at her first look makes my heart flutter!

Tell people about your business and what you offer

I am a Freelance Make-up Artist, based in KZN. I am fairly new to the industry, but with each wedding I do my passion grows even more. I prefer a more natural make-up look to the dark, cakey look. I believe that make-up should be used to enhance your natural beauty and used to draw focus to your favourite features.

I offer make-up services for the following:

  1. Bridal/Weddings
  2. Special Occasions
  3. School Dances
  4. Photoshoots
  5. Make-up Lessons
How did you get into the wedding industry?

It started after I had completed a course in Make-up Artistry. My cousin asked me to assist her with a wedding. I ended absolutely loving it and knew I had to carry on!

How long have you been doing this for?

Four years.

What do you love most about your job?

Ah that’s easy… the lipstick! Okay, it may be one of the factors but, to be honest, my absolute favourite is when I have completed a make-up look and my client spends some time looking in the mirror inspecting my work and then realising that they look absolutely stunning (something I knew already!) and the reaction I get after that! Oh, and the people that I get to work with – they can be pretty amazing!

What differentiates your business and makes you stand out? What are you known for?

Oh golly, this is a difficult one!

It could be the fact that I am a hidden perfectionist when it comes to make-up. I like everything to look even, well-blended and colour coded. I’ll not let you leave my chair until I feel 100% sure and, even after you’ve left my chair, I keep an eye on you from a distance.

What am I known for… some have called me ‘the silent assassin’ – I get on with my task, hardly talk, and will be done in record time! This could be because I get bored sitting for too long, so I don’t want my clients to feel the same!

What can visitors to the Midlands Bridal Fair expect to see from you at the fair?

Some epic dance moves and killer jokes! Oh wait – wrong fair! 🙂

I’m not too sure myself, so as soon I know – I’ll let you know!

Any client testimonial/s you’d like to share?

“Courts you were absolutely AMAZING at the wedding! Your make-up is out of this world.” – Kirsty Heath

Tell us what inspires you. Any websites, people or companies that you follow?

Lisa Brown! She’s an amazing make-up artist based in Stellenbosch. Hopefully one day I’ll be privileged enough to meet her or even work with her.

Any upcoming wedding trend forecasts?

Hopefully more funky suits for men, metallic dresses for the Bridesmaids and lots more flowers! Make-up trends… natural brows, bold lips and more dewy, glowing faces.

What advice would you give Brides- and/or Grooms-to be?

Enjoy your day! Not everything is going to be perfect, but that doesn’t matter because your guests won’t ever know how it was supposed to be. Everyone is going to have a ball regardless!

Do you have a favourite quote?

“Better an oops than a what if!”
