Ester & Mark, welcome to the Midlands Bridal Fair 2017 in KZN. We are so excited to introduce you and your business to our Brides- and Grooms-to-be!

Tell us a little about yourselves

We are a husband and wife team with LOVE as our boss.

We met in Jo’burg and worked together in the Event and Below-the-line Advertising business for five years. We decided to pack up and move to the Midlands 10 years ago. After being here for a year we realised it was a no-brainer to open a Wedding company.

We started Midlands Style Events in our dining room on the farm we owned at the time. We met with Brides on our veranda overlooking the beautiful green hills of the Midlands. Our dining room got too small and we moved to the Junction. The Junction got too small and we moved to the Lifestyle Sherwood Centre in the heart of Notties.

We have a large showroom with heaps of décor and when we do consultations with Brides we play with different styles and the Brides can touch and feel every little detail of their wedding.

Tell people about your business and what you offer

Wedding décor and hiring service: We offer heaps of décor you can hire from us but we also offer a full STYLING YOUR WEDDING BEAUTIFUL service.

Wedding flowers and bridal bouquets: This is all done in-house. We source and style all the flowers ourselves and do not outsource this at all.

Wedding Planning: Planning with other service providers. We have handpicked, tried and tested wonderful service providers on our books – DJs, Ministers, Photographers, to name but a few.

Professional Co-ordination service: This is a full comprehensive service from prior to wedding, Wedding Day co-ordination and wrap up after wedding.

How did you get into the wedding industry?

Since I can remember I have helped my Mom with flowers and catering for Events – from Church flowers, to school functions and elaborate Women’s Forum High Teas.

During my corporate career I always was the one that ended up organising and doing the flowers for things like Cocktail parties, Christmas functions, and anything to do with a party.

When we moved to the Midlands it seemed like the only thing people do here is have parties. So someone had to bring some style to them…

How long have you been doing this for?

We opened our business eight years ago and have only gone from strength to strength.

What do you love most about your job?

When a Bride and Groom trusts us enough to hand it all over to us and let us do our magic.

What differentiates your business and makes you stand out? What are you known for?

We are a husband and wife team and just love working together. We bring the LOVE!

Mark and I are known  for our natural hosting abilities. When our friends come for an overnight stay they end up leaving three days later. Our home is known as the best hotel – not that it is fancy, just that we make everyone feel welcome and they end up staying longer than planned.

You are welcoming a new team member on board just before the Midlands Bridal Fair. Tell us a little about her…

Lisa Schravesande is our new Local and International Ambassador.

Lisa has been an international Flight Attendant for 17 years and for the past eight years has been a Senior Flight Attendant for the Royal Family of Dubai. Whilst looking after and taking care of the Royal Family and all their needs, Lisa needed to call on her fancy footwork, quick thinking and creativity to ensure the smooth operation of the Royal Family’s air travels. Lisa has developed an acute attention to detail and excellent organisational skills caring for some of the world’s wealthiest and most demanding passengers.

Lisa has a vivacious, bubbly personality and a passion for the hospitality and events industry. We are very excited to have Lisa on our team and know with all the experience she brings to the table she elevate our weddings even more than before.
