Sharyn, welcome to the 2018 Midlands Bridal Fair. We are so excited to introduce you and your business to our Brides- and Grooms-to-be!
We’d love to know more about you and how you got into the industry…
Rob Roy Scottish Supplies was established in 1980, by the previous owner. I am a former Highland and Irish Dancer and recently took over the business. The prospect of being in a position to foster the traditions I was so deeply involved in for two decades was very exciting. I retired from dancing after participating in the 2006 Edinburgh Military Tattoo, this being the highlight of my dancing career.
What services and expertise does your business offer to clients?
Rob Roy Scottish Supplies is the leading supplier of Scottish regalia and accessories in South Africa, and also has a number of export customers all over the world.
Gents Highland Outfitting forms a large part of the business, and the demand for Scottish outfits for weddings, dinners and all manner of special occasions continues to grow. Full Formal Kilt Hire is our speciality.
The company supplies dancing and pipe band instruments and accessories; giftware and music; novelties; tartan and tweed fabrics; Celtic and clan crest jewellery; hats, ties, and scarves etc.
How long have you been doing this for?
What do you love most about the work you do?
We meet such lovely and interesting people through our business. The majority of our clientele have Scottish roots, but there are many that do not and are just looking for something completely different for their wedding day. It is always so rewarding to make someone look smart for their special day and even the sceptics are blown away when they see themselves in the mirror.
What differentiates your business and makes you stand out? What are you known for?
Our shop is a very unique and we are the best in the business. We are lucky to service quite a niché market, but once people know about us, they come back time and time again. We pride ourselves in quality products and service.
What can visitors to the Midlands Bridal Fair expect to see from you at the fair?
Something completely different and hopefully exactly what some people have been searching for, for their special wedding day.
